Vintage Moroccan Boujad Rug

Sourced for Rae from the Atlas Mountains, Morocco, our vintage rugs are selected for their unusual colourways and designs. All made from local yarns, naturally dyed with vegetable dyes, that have now faded over time from the sunshine in Morocco. Therefore each one is unique. These add warmth, character and authenticity to any home.

Boujad rugs are from the middle Atlas mountains. These designs often feature Berber symbols and may depict stories related to fertility, rural life, marriage, or spiritual beliefs.
The colors used in Boujad rugs are often created using natural dyes from local flora like flowers, berries, leaves, and henna. The knotting techniques used by the weavers result in a lower pile, therefore are suitable for high footfall areas.
